ok my family has this camper that is never used, and i really want do get outdoors more. i joined cub scouts but my dad couldnt take it, because the kids got out of controll. are there places where there are like no people? my grandparents own 150 achers of woods, would i be better just spending a night out there?
Next week, my fiancee and I have a week off and we only live a few hours from the Ozarks. Neither of us have ever been and we were thinking it might be fun to go for a couple of days. Has anyone been there and where would you suggest staying (low budget please)? Also, we love the outdoors…camping, canoeing, hiking, etc. What places would you suggest we visit and explore? Thanks.
I am looking for a camera to take pictures while I am hiking, fishing, hunting, etc.
I have literally zero experience with good cameras. I want a camera that has the capability of taking very good photos. I don’t know anything about developing my own photos, so the camera would need to be able to be taken to a store to be developed. I would also like the camera to be digital so I won’t waste film.
I have a nikon coolpix right now and it isn’t enough for me.
I am willing to spend $500-$1000 right now. I don’t care if it is new, used, old, off brand. Just something to get the job done.

The real basis is safety. I will wait a while for hunting, but at what age did you guys take your sons on their first outdoor camping, hunting, or fishing trip?
When did you feel comfortable tenting with them so that they wouldnt get sick or where less likely to get hurt or lost or something?
I am dying to get my kid out in the woods but he is a bit small at the moment and our trips are limited to short 1 or 2 hour jaunts for now.
Any ideas or input are appreciated.

This is truly more quality input than I ever expected. I spend a majority of my free time out of doors in some form or other (yesterday it was a 12 mile hike “hunting” for squirrels!). I see some lonely places and my fear was bringing my son into these places pre-maturely.
Armed with the input I have here, I am pretty certain I can take the steps needed to do it right.
We definitely need more examples of good role models. I am really tired of hearing the same old crap the inevitably makes us think that no matter what we do we are horrible parents.
I, for one, hope that more questions like this raise themselves in this forum and we take it as an opportunity to ignore the drama and focus on the things that are really important in our lives.

I want to take her some place secluded and away from everything. She has never gone fishing and she wants to go this weekend. She also loves the outdoors with all of the trees and wildlife. So if you know of any place where we can pitch a tent and set up a little grill, that is away from traffic and the rest of the world, please let me know.

I applied for a job at a sports and outdoors store. The first interview I had went well, but they had to reschedule the second part of the first interview for a later date because they were busy. I went and completed the second part/second interview a few days later, and they told me they would call me later for the 3rd interview. They called a week later to schedule the 3rd one (which I have on Tuesday). The person said it’s with the Store Director. Is this a good sign that I’m highly considered to be hired, or are they just seeing if they want me at all?
I work as a camp counselor and could use some more activites/games/arts and crafts ideas for the kids. Thanks
