Cost of shipping crate full of gear to Alaska?

I will be shipping two mountain bikes, repair tools, backpacks and other outdoor gear to Alaska. The size of the package will approximately be 5’ x 5’ x 4’ ; total weight roughly 80lbs

Three questions:

1. What type of packaging would you recommend that is cost effective and would protect the gear (wood / cardboard / combination of both)?
2. What shipping carrier would make most sense and/or be the cheapest?
3. Where could I ship the package for temporary hold (one week) as I arrive in Alaska, rent a car and pick it up? Suggestions?

Does the boulder gear clothing company have a website?

I am looking for a new ski jacket and I think I want to get a boulder gear one. The problem is I can’t find a site for them. I would like to look at their website, but all I can find are outdoor stores such as REI that sell them. Please help

What are some good gear for an outdoor skater?

I used to skate all the time and figured I’d pick it back up for some exercise. Of course, I’m older now and would like to protect myself as much as possible from injuries.

First off, inline skates vs quads? I’ve always used inline skates, but that was indoors. I fear a pebble or something getting between the wheels and sending me head first into the concrete. I already have a pair of inlines that I love, but I’m wondering if quads would be better, if nothing else, until I’m used to skating again.

Good knee pads? I’m 200lbs at the moment, so I want something that can take that without needing to be replaced after every fall. I’m considering knee gaskets as well to help keep them up since the last pair of knee pads I had would always slide down when I fell.

Wrist guards? I’m an avid “catch myself with my hands” faller, so I’d like something on my hands even if it’s just a glove. The last wrist guard I had was horrible and I couldn’t get used to it after almost a month of use.

Why do people spend a lot of money on outdoor work-out gear?

Those jogging pants are going to be washed over a thousand times in one year because they end up smelling like sweaty groin and sweaty buttt crack after you are done working out…so why buy the fancy expensive jogging pants?

You are eventually going to accidentally step on dog poo when jogging through the park, so why spend hundreds of dollars on a pair of sport sneakers?

Why do you need the fancy expensive wrist band timer for? Just jog until you cant jog no more.

Do you really need that fancy pair ray-bands that you are going to drop and get all scratched up?

What is some good, but inexpensive rain gear for outdoor activities?

I need some good inexpensive (no more than $100- $200 each) rain gear. I do a lot of outdoor activities during the spring and summer, so I need something that will keep me dry. Even if I’m outside for several hours, or in more than a light rain. I will need footwear, jacket and pants. I used to have a gore-tex jacket and really liked it; but don’t mind what it is as long as it keeps my dry. It needs to be light, breathable, and easy to move around it.

Any suggestions on brands and where to go? I plan to check out REI, but any other ideas?

Camping/outdoor discount gear website?

A little while back I was told about a website where they put up deals on primarily outdoor/camping gear and equipment for about 15-20 minutes at a time at incredibly discounted rates. Now I can not remember for the life of me what the website was. Does anyone know of a website like this? I want to say it started with an ‘s’ but don’t take that as gospel!

what gear do i wear at an outdoor batting cages?
