how to store a car
id want it at home so you can crank it every few days or week so you dont have problems and thats free but if you just have to store it do some reading wil get you wnat you can do to it or for it really just a cover an d crank it every once in a while would be better
9 months isn’t so long a time, maybe not so much to worry over, but modern gasoline may lose composition after a few months, particularly outdoors in the heat the ‘thinner’ components may evaporate and leave a ‘thicker’ mess to plug up fuel lines and fuel filters. I think there is stuff to add to the fuel to help reduce this. Look in auto parts store for “Sta-Bil” to add to the gas.
Also make sure the tire pressures are about 10psi above normal (avoid flat spotting tires), and a fresh oil change before storing it would be a good idea.
if you’re just gonna leave it somewhere then definitely get a cover for it, and a nice one too. get one that is completely opaque, waterproof, and has a soft underside for the car finish.
DEFINITELY use fuel stabilizer (sta-bil usually works just fine, directions on bottle)
if i were you i would remove the spark plugs and spray some PB blaster (found at any auto parts store) down into the holes then replace the spark plugs. but this is only once you get it parked where you will be storing it.
probably want to put some mouse/rat poison around the interior and trunk and engine bay.
you dont want to njust ‘crank’ the car every few days. that will eventually run the battery out. take it out on a drive, like every weekend. the tires wil get flat spots on them from sitting to long. and the fluids have moiture build up from sitting to long. also, turn all the fans and what not off. you could even un hok the battery if need be…
Easy. Fill the tank with gas and a bottle of sta-bil. Then park it and simply disconnect one of the battery cables and you are through. Reconnect after the 9 months and let her rip. It will be fine.
i would definately cover it tightly and make sure it has anti freeze in it aalso fuel stabilizer but i would recomend storing a car inside
Stabilize the gas . I like Sea Foam one can will treat 20 gal. I would try tp cover it so that the sun will not get to it. If it site in the sun i would leave a window ajar so that it will not get to hot inside. If you can store it inside.Take the battery out & charge it once a month. Change the oil when you get ready to start it
