Thank you for the review, deploying to Afghanistan as a DOD Contractor in a few weeks, and trying to finalize my gear. The BFM was suggested, and your review cinched it. Thank you for the review, and your service.

Great review brother! I’m looking at a BFM and the Tri Zip. You made my choice a little easier. Great tip on the Listerine as well, never thought of that.

Cool! You must be in the same climate as I am ( I live in Kansas). I got a 0 degree bag at Gander Mountain for 20 bucks!! Problem is that it is a little bulky. your L.B.E. vid made me go out and get some gear. Way better than carrying my big main bag. Great for weekend camping trip near the lake.

It can hold a sleeping bag, but at that time I had a couple of poncho liners in a wet weather bag. They work well enough for me up until October, then I have to pull out the bag!

    For the third time, …
For the third time, for all of you that seem to be completely retarded… If you go to Camelbak’s website they neither advertise nor sell the 200oz. bladder. THEY DO MAKE IT, if I didn’t make that clear enough for those suffering brain damage. BUT THEY DON’T SELL IT, if I didn’t make that clear enough for those suffering brain damage. Camelbak will instruct you to go to a vendor to purchase that product. Now is that clear enough for the fuckin’ morons?

  17. Avatar September 26th, 2009 at 12:54 pm Bliggida Says:

    As I previously …
As I previously stated. Camelbak makes it. But Camelbak does not sell it. You can purchase it from other vendors who get them from Camelbak, but Camelbak neither advertises it on their website, nor sells it on their website. And as a correction, with a 200 oz bladder, and 2-100 oz. bladders is 12L but that’s 400 oz. not 600. Dunno what I was thinking.

Camelbak makes (but does not sell) a 200oz. bladder for the B.F.M., Camelbak does advertise that the B.F.M. will fit (2) two 100 oz. bladders internally…AND an additional 100oz. thermobak mini-pack on each side giving you a total of 600oz. / 12 liters of water. Have never seen how the Thermobaks attach, my guess is sitting inside the side pockets. That’s enough for two people – for two days.

This is sure to be a great series of yours. I used to collect lots of Mil-Spec gear, but am now converting over to better designed and longer lasting items. I have both a medium ALICE and large ALICE w/frame. Both awkward. The Camelback looks great.
