I’m 18 years old. I snowboard and will need to get up to the mountains which are 4 hours away. I need something that is safe. I am an outdoors person and do lots of outdoors activitys so i need a car that i can just throw my equipment in. I’m going for a used car and i can pay no more than 5-6 thousand. Does anyone have any recomendations. I’m really stumped. I’ve asked several questions on here about trucks and SUVs and i’ve gotten a lot of negative feedback even though thats really the kind of vehicles i would like. So i really need your help. Thanks!
Get on old S-10 Blazer with a 4.3L V6 not the 2.8L V6 or and Explorer. If you are looking from mid-late 90′s for that price range I’d go with the Explorer for dependabilty. Early 90′s you’d be fine with either.

Any car with a roof top carrier would work for you, so you don’t need a huge car. Hondas and Toyotas are rated best, they will run for over 100,000 miles. Hope that helped. Honda Civics are great on gas and very reliable. I own a Honda Accord, have 70,000 miles on it, it works great, I bought mine used. If you are going to the mountains, and the drive is very steep, you will probably be better off with a 6 cylinder vehicle, more power, more torque.

I recommend a renault megane – its not an suv but there are a few good reasons i recommend it. It’s saved my friend’s life (some retard jumped a traffic light and slammed right into his door). I’ve been in it and its a really comfortable car. Its got a pretty powerful engine so its good enough for uphill driving, just maybe not potholed roads nor hectic offroad paths. I don’t know if you can get it for the price you want, but i think its a really good all round car.

I would suggest a Toyota. They are by far the most reliable car/truck I have ever owned! You can get into a front wheel drive car, or a 4wheel drive car, or truck. Check Auto Trader magazine, or online at autotrader.com. I bought a 1991 Toyota 4WD pick up last year for $4000. it is great.
Good luck,
Stevo.
