Is there a website that posts reviews of hiking/camping equipment?

I’m looking for a site that reviews camping/hiking/outdoor equipment..?
……by the people who use it. I dont want another "outfitter" promoting their products, but a site where people who have actually used the products comment on their durability effctiveness and even the trails and areas they have explored.
Any one know of a site like this?

The YKL fastener of my Conquer backpack got caught in my car door and cracked. Where can I have this repaired? Thanks!

Ronb has the answer. A good old fashioned shoe maker/repair will take care of it for you. Every city has at least one. Hopefully it won’t be too hard to find. Stick around a little and shoot the breeze. You may find it amazingly cheap.
At worst, a good seamstess or good (non-chain) dry cleaner.

Flash? Not usually for outdoor, if you scout your location correctly. You could use a reflector (if it’s needed to illuminate the subject). But the most important thing is your photography skills.

Problems you face with any electronic equipment due to environmental conditions are things like

1. changes in temperature that result in condensation. Obviously

2. Rapid expansion or contraction due to temperature change that may fracture printed circuit traces, components or even the boards themselves.

3. Changes in component values at different temperatures can result in damage or poor function of other components.

4. Discs and tapes are susceptible to damage when operated, or even stored at temperature extremes.

Consumer electronics are typically tested in the design and prototype stage to determine safe operating ranges. Those safe operating ranges are published in user manuals.

Will the device fail if you operate outside those limits? Maybe, maybe not. There are a lot of variables in the calculations as well as some safety margin. Proceed at your own risk.

Its not a smart ass answer. I’ve worked in electronic quality engineering and the answer would vary depending on the specific device, its design parameters, and components used.

You didn’t give enough details about the device or your intended application for me to guess whether stretching the operating parameters might be doable or not.

Bottom line: read the freakin manual that came with the device and find out what the engineers who designed it think.

she is in gymnastics 2 times per week. She wants a trampoline to practice on (because they use one there). I’m afraid of trampolines, so looking for a compromise, basically.
Des, where did you purchase your balance beam, if I may ask?
We do have skateboards and scooters (I even love those).

have you considered one of those miniature trampolines, just for one. i agree with the balance beams or a tumble mat. I think thats what they are called.

A professional audio consultant. If you don’t know the answer to this question you are in over your head. If you want the concert to be remembered as a positive experience vs. a negative one. Use a pro-audio firm near you.
