Baby powder with talc will absorb the body oils and fall away if water usage is limited. Wipes are great just remember to put them in a zip bag to bring them back out of the wilderness with you.

buy on those camping showers. its just a bag filled with water and a shower head attached to it .it also has a little pump were you can squzz the water out as you need it

For washing, use a river. It’s free, and seems so much better. If you do use soap, be careful which type you use as normal soap and shampoo can be harmful to the environment. Also, you can get a camelback style bladder and fill it up. Then let it sit in the sun on a peice of black plastic, or just add warm water. Then string it up from a tree and the effect from gravity will give you a nice shower.

For cleaning, use the river. Scoop water onto your plate or bowl, but don’t tip the contents back into the river. Take it away a bit and bury it in a shallow hole so it doesn’t look bad (scraps sometimes stay in the same place in the water for weeks) and can filter through the earth.

A couple of thoughts: first, purchase a sunshower from a camping supply store..hang it from a overhanging branch or hold it in your hand and enjoy..or cut the top off of a two liter water carrier…they fold up, are light, and make a great portable sink to use for a sponge bath..Remember to always bathe about 70 paces from lakes or streams and use a biodegradable soap like Dr. Bronner’s – all to protect the environment while you clean up.

I used to buy almond or peppermint soap at the local health food store and then go swimming in the lake I camped at. Felt very nice and I did smell better. A solar shower is nice and you can always boil some water and take a sponge bath.

If you have access to a river..please dont use regular soap..use the biodegradable type that they sell specifically for that purpose..if you dont have river access..a large container of wetnaps should be enough to take care of the task.. keep a washcloth in your pack and take a "bath" before you go to sleep at night.. nobody said camping was gonna be like a stay at the ritz, but you can keep actually very clean if you use these methods..Happy Camping!!..Hope this helps
