The Tin Can Survival Cook Stove

I’ve seen these stoves go for upwards of $25 online. Being someone that prefers not to shill out cash for a piece if tin, I decided to post a how-to on making one of these stoves. As such, I’m not selling anything, I haven’t infringed on any copyrights so this info is completely free to use. Enjoy.

I have a search and rescue field training exercise next weekend and I think I might use this. I can never work those kerosene burners. Only problem is heat source. I wonder if a candle will be hot enough. Hmm. I’ll try it out! Thanks!

Very nice! In an emergency you could make this in the woods.

    No air flow no flame.

  9. ohkaythen93 says:

@predracer04 He actually says, -im gonna make a tripod, ACTUALLY its gonna have 4 legs- =D

  10. trombonezrule says:

you should drop the top of the can you cut off to the bottem of the “stove” so the the coals and embers are contained

This is great! When in the wilderness, you don’t want a big fire to make the basic of needs for cooking. Thanks for sharing this info!

  12. pairhawk says:

    leave the label for kindling….lol

  13. caibarien71 says:

I would like to see your stove in action….

  14. predracer04 says:

If it’s got four legs, it would be a quadpod not a tripod, tri=three.

  15. CRAFTYCARPER84 says:

    phat blade bro

  16. suryan207 says:

At the beginning of the vid you hold the knife by the blade in your hand for no apparent reason. Be careful and show respect for sharp tools.

  17. Dirt8889 says:

I like your choice of music for the intro and ending. Fight Club Soundtrack am I right?

  18. aeislugh says:

why bother with making the “tri pod” seems like a pointless waste of time there. Don’t want to be cruel here, but that tin doesn’t look all that stable for holding up a container of water. Which is 75% of what you’re going to be doing in a survival situation. Boiling water to purify it

    nice shank

  20. kfinnguy says:

A pair of pliers might help.

  21. Rocdenindy says:

    good video

  22. Rocdenindy says:

you have to cut the lid off so you can put the fuel into the can to burn

  23. Arkmor says:

    Nice vid

  24. asheradensein says:

He meant that he was replicating a 25 dollar cook stove.

At 9:27 he said “The $25 cook stove for only $1.99″

  25. halobull says:

wot was the point in cutting the lid off if you put it straight back on at the end, oh yes of corse i shud hav thought, it makes it unstable so when your boiling a pot of water, thers a bigger chance it will fall on you!!!!!!!!!!!
