@NaturesInstinct – I tried using a piece of 100% cotton shoe lace. Those suckers are thick and the flame is so efficient that I need to keep adding shredded wax because the wick lasts so long and it uses up the wax quickly. Gives an awesome wide flame like an oil lamp and wicked heat!

a note worthy point is corn chips a good source of added fire keepers due to the high oil content plus good for baiting dead fall traps. And at 3 dollars a bag its really cheep to use.

So how exactly are these “bombs”? You do realize bombs explode right? I’m not trying to critisize but, I was expecting something alot different!! Great idea but, this has been done in many variations how ever yours seems to be weather resistant so I give you some kudos!!
add pop caps when you mold it and it can become an eplosive or more like a signal flare

great idea! maybe even some thick cotton like cordage would work to give a large solid flame, it may eat the wax faster but… good stuff.
Had a brain storm for your tinder bombs what about using mason line to impreinate with wax to use as wycke.

Fantastic! I use the Vaseline cotton for emergency tinder but I think I will make some of those “Big Boys” as emergency fuel.

you can also collect the lint from clothes dryers for really hot tinder

petroleum jelly works as a fuel as well, the downfalls are that it is messy and has a shorter burn time than wax.
What about Petroleum Jelly (i.e. Vaseline)..?

yeah, i used something called puff from a pharmacy… i’m not sure if they are pure cotton…

yeah man, they work really well… they may need to be torn apart… the little bit of cotton on top isn’t a reliable wick.
