I would like to start composting but I am so confussed!!! I found this container that you can set on your kitchen counter as you collect materials. Ok, easy enough and not too expensive. After that I have no clue. I saw where you can buy this tumble bin thing that you keep outdoors that stores and creates the compost, but the cost is more than I can handle. What are all of my options and how do I even start a conpost. My goal is to have a herb garden in my kitchen or on my front porch so I really don’t need to mass produce or anything. Also, how long would it be before I would be able to use the compost?
I love the outdoors and the wilderness, and I’ve grown up around things like backpacking and high adventure wilderness activities. I’m a boy scout, so I know everything I need to to go backpacking with a backpack full of provisions just from that, but I have also had extensive training in wilderness survival and first aid. Suffice it to say, I could go trekking with nothing but a knife and I’d be just fine. But anyway, I’m fourteen, and, my friend and I were talking about him flying to my state, Wisconsin, and gong on a backpacking trip on the Ice Age Trail. We want to do a two day trek, covering about twenty miles, but I haven’t looked into what kind of terrain I’ll be dealing with. My friend, Nick, knows alot about forestry as well, and we have all the gear we need, and trust me, I know what I’m doing. But, although I could hold my own in the wilderness better than most adults, I’m a minor, and my parents are worried that it would be illegal. Does anybody know if any laws exist that state that a fourteen year old can’t go backpacking on a public trail in Wisconsin?
Rant:
It really, really, really, makes me soo mad, how the world is today. Back in biblical times, people could become a hermit and go off and live alone in the wilderness. Now, it’s robably illegal. And back then, if parents wanted to send their kid on a trip into the wild and he got hurt, they wouldn’t be punished by the government. This is God’s earth, not the government’s. We can’t even go out and trek on the earth in it’s true state anymore. It just makes me so mad…
I am interested in spending some time outdoors this weekend with my girlfriend but dont want to spend a lot of money driving to the mountains. Does anyone know of any good places to hike and camp near Raleigh?
Hello, does anyone know where I can buy battery powered Christmas lights? I was told the major stores like Walmart, Target, etc sell them but I have yet to find them. I don’t have electrical outlets outdoors and do not want to fuss with the cords to go inside. Any ideas? I want to twist some around my wraeth for my door and also find some of those little lights you can put along the pathway outside..any ideas? Thanks much!
Ok, this question was inspired by a previous one. I am so sick of being ran over by kids in the grocery store and the mall that are wearing Heelys. They seem like a fun thing for kids to play with outdoors. Does anyone else think they should be banned from the store?
I know that this isn’t the average question, but i feel i must ask it because i can’t decide.
I am leaving everything behind to travel all of america.
I am only taking my car, my laptop, my gps unit, and some camping gear.
I would really like a pet to be with me, but i cannot choose what pet to get.
I love dogs and already have many dogs (but they’re my family’s – they’d never let me take one), but my money situation will be extrememly tight and i don’t know if i’d be able to supply a dog with enough food and attention.
So i guess i’m asking for a suggestion on a pet that would be spending a lot of time with me in a car and outdoors camping, who would be easy and cheap to feed, as well as something to keep me company as a friend.
Thank you for any suggestions, and please don’t just shout out the animals you have, I have many pets – this is a specialty question.
Good point. I was thinking of adopting from our local shelter, but my mother keeps harping at me saying that the vet bills to get it all vaccinated and stuff before i got will harm me greatly…
I think you’re right though. I think i just need to research good mid-sized outdoorsy dogs :]
We have never been camping before but have always loved the outdoors. Any suggestions on a place and could you tell me something about it or a website that has a spot where you can type in what you want at your campground. anything to help me find a place would be great.
The countdown 30 round magazine offered by EMA Tactical is a great product for personal defense or LE/SWAT applications. I highly recommend it for those looking for a quality magazine.
