What is Felony Fraud and how do i find out more about it?

November28

a friend is being told by police that he is to be arrested for fraud. He developed a non profit organization designed to introduce kids to outdoors sports (camping fishing hunting etc). He received donations to purchase the equipment and then broke his back and had other major issues preventing him from continuing the program. What can he do to proove he was not trying to defraud anyone? He plans to begin the program again as soon as he is physically able and still has the equipment he purchased.
This is happening in Michigan

Finally, someone who puts the state in their question.

Look…bottom line: your friend needs an attorney, not a bunch of well-meaning people on Yahoo. Nobody here that has any idea what they’re talking about it is going to offer any decent advice because there are just too many variables that could be in place. Also, there would be more questions than answers, and your friend would be a fool to answer any questions here on Yahoo, if he’s being charged with a crime.

What is felony fraud? I suspect the links above will tell you, but generally it’s fraud over a certain dollar amount. Fraud, it sounds like you’ve figured out, is misrepresenting yourself to obtain goods/services/etc.

Finally, I wonder about the, "friend is being told by police that he is to be arrested…" comment. Rarely does anyone I work with communicate the intent to arrest someone…it’s bad business, as it allows the suspect to begin thinking up stories to cover his tracks, talking to attorneys, flee the jurisdiction, etc., etc. Perhaps there’s some kind of misunderstanding as to the business of being arrested.

What is the best food to feed a pet possum?

November28

I went to the pet store with stinky on a leash. He loves the outdoors. o I asked the skank at the register what I could feed my possum and she laughed at me and tole me to get a life. Stinky was upset and hissed at her. They say they have never heard of possum food. I told her Ive been feeding stinky chicken bones for years and he seems ok with it. So I bought frozen mice for stinky.

I microwaved them and tasted one of them and I reckoned stinky would like it. He tried some and he was in possum heavan

Feed opossums a high quality dry kitten food or dry ferret food. They love crickets and mealworms. Provide fresh fruit/veggies several times a week

How to dry sports shoes after washing?

November28

I washed my Puma sports shoes with detergent and left them outdoors to dry and now they have some yellow stains on the fabric net of the shoes. I think maybe detergent turned yellow after drying – which is strange. So I tried with car shampoo and got the same results. I cleaned them with again with only water but after drying the stain came back. What should I do?

stuff them full of newspaper to get them dry

Any experienced backpackers out there?

November28

Wow, this is like my first question mon, so awesome!

So, I want to start backpacking because I love the outdoors.
I live in Washington state (like, don’t come and stalk me now ok? Ha,ha) and got a subscription to Backpacker magazine cause I figure, "Dude, it’s gotta be good for tips and places to go and stuff like that."
Some other stuff about me that might help you help me is;
I’m on "somewhat" of a budget. I’m relatively healthy
(I’d like to get more healthy by doing this)
I don’t drive, but if bus, train or plane can get me where I need to go, then I’m there.
I’m interested in doing this in Wash. state, Bryce N.P, Utah and The Four points. Oh, and maybe central Florida or South America.

Now whatever tips, gear info (especially stuff that you’ve field tested and used for some time) or just suggestions and information you can give me,
would be very appreciated.
Like I said, I’m new to this so,
be kind.

Thanks for your time.
Wow, what a mean spirited first answer! You must be really unhappy with yourself there, carrot top. Hope things get better.
Ok so the above added details do not apply to the current "first posted comment" the previously posted first comment was rally not nice at all and the poster must have deleted it.

For a person to start backpacking is like opening the gates of heaven. You are about to embark on a lifelong love and adventure. Keyword in Pacific northwest hiking, clubs, groups ect. You will get great help advice and experience from these folks. Check out Seattle hiking group also they live to hike. I was raised up here in Alaska so its a way of life for me. Best of luck and fun times to ya.

Camping Outdoors, I live for that stuff!?

November28

Ok, so me and 3 other friends go twice every single week and camp in the woods. Each time we go we try and make it a little harder for ourselves (We find this stuff exhilarating) without in dangering ourselves(we need proper clothes ect..)

We travel throughout our state of Michigan exploring, and testing ourselves.

Out of everything we have done, we still are afraid of diving into a run wihtout flint, neccessary water bottles, and a few cans of kidney beans. Fishing never goes well for us (We never bring anything but a hook, for difficulty) and we have not gotten to the point of hunting anything bigger then a rabbit, we occasionally will get lucky..but we are afraid if we don’t bring the beans and also can’t get a cetch that we will fail our run.

So my question is:

We havn’t made fire without flint before, what are some tips how to?

Also, if fishing and hunting goes wrong and we don’t have beans..what do we do without calling it a "fail" and returning to our cabin?

And last, we always "baby" ourselves with water for the fact we don’t know how to make clean water. (We HAVE indeed used snow, but it is dirty and gross) How can we have some water?

I ask everyone to please respect mine and my friends idea of fun, we live for this stuff..so please honest and helpful answers. And thank you to everyone that helps us out..

F.Y.I.- We have done about 50 runs throughout Michigan, and next weekend we are going to the Upper P. for our first time and we want to be prepared. It’s rather chilly up there. ;)

always boil the water.. and you can these little pills to drop in the water to kill ne bacteria

Clothes and ideas for outdoor maternity pictures?

November28

I will be 29 weeks on Friday and I am having some maternity pictures taken to commorate this being my last pregnancy. I have two boys (ages 8 and 2) and I am having a girl. These picturs are gonna be taken outdoors and I need some ideas for clothes to wear and ideas for poses. I want something different an unique but also something I’m not embarassed to show my kids or guests lol. Anyone have any ideas?

Since the part of your pregnancy you are trying to capture is you belly, make sure you wear something that is comfortable, flattering, but shows your belly. As far as poses, you can do them sitting, standing, or laying down. Have your kids and the father in the photos. I saw one where the moms hand, dad’s hand, and 2 kids hands were all touching the belly and it was really pretty, it was also a black and white. daddy kissing the belly is also a classic maternity pose. As with most photos, don’t use hand, front angles. Also, the more candid they are, the less contrived they look. Also, make sure if you are going to have others in the photos that you are wearing outfits that don;t clash. You don’t wnt to be wearing a floral dress if he is wearing plaid, it doen’t match. solid colors look better. Remember to wear make up so you don’t look washed out in your photos. You might feel like a clown, but you want to look like a beautiful glowing, pregnant woman.

One note about this, you are only 29 weeks, most maternity photos are taken a little later, a lot of the time around 32-35 weeks when you are really big. It also sounds as though you are going to be doing these yourself, which is fine. But you could also look into finding a photographer. The woman doing mine actually has a really good priced package for maternity and newborn photos which include print credits and both sittings (about 2 hours each) for $200. Just an idea…

Outdoor electrical equipment?

November28

What are the latest regs regarding electricity supply to an outdoor submersible pump. The pump comes with a length of cable attached which obviously then needs extending and connecting to the supply…. I know I am not allowed by law to do this myself….. but what are the requirements?

You can do this yourself providing you are connecting it via a normal plug. You cannot perform mains wiring on property other than your own, by law.

Are there any places in Ohio to learn outdoor rock climbing?

November28

I would love to learn the sport close to home, but don’t want to buy tons of gear and travel 1/2 way across the globe only to find it’s not as fun as I thought.

some of the state parks hold classes in rock climbing look on the web. also check bulleten boards at some local sport shops.

What do I need for a 7 day outdoor expedition?

November25

I am trying to figure out what kind of things I will need to go on a 7-day canoe and portage trip on the Bowron Lakes in BC, Canada. It will be all outdoors and I will be camping every night. It will be slightly chilly but never below freezing. The trick is to keep all the equipment under 60lbs because that is all that is allowed. What are the essentials that I should try to bring?

You don’t mention if you’re going alone or with a group – if with a group you can share equipment (tent, stove & fuel, water filter) to save on weight. Here’s a basic list:

Good hiking boots (I like the NRS neoprene for canoe/kayaking)
Backpack with rain cover
topographic map(s)
compass
gorp (trail food/snacks)

whistle
emergency mirror
first aid kit (with moleskin)

Tent (as I mentioned above you can share this with a group)
Sleeping bag (10 deg colder than you expect to sleep in)
Sleeping pad

flashlight/headlamp (plus extra batteries)
bug bite stick
sunscreen
insect repellent
toilet paper
Shovel, trowel, or spade
Fixed blade knife

saw/hatchet
matches/lighter

2-4 1L Nalgene water bottles
water filter (as I mentioned above you can share this with a group)

backpacking stove (as I mentioned above you can share this)
stove fuel (as I mentioned above you can share this with a group)

cooking gear & utensils (1 pot, 1 spoon/fork or spork)
dehydrated meal packs (I prefer the Mountain House brand)
– breakfasts x 7+1 extra day (just in case)
– dinners x 7+1 extra day (just in case)

repair kits (pack, pad, stove, filter, etc.)
Zip-Loc bags for trash
Rain gear
Fleece jacket, hat, & gloves

Good luck and have a great time. I’m jealous.
